Getting started

What is Grihaz?

Grihaz is an app for running a household with domestic staff. It keeps a shared record of who came to work each day, works out what each person is owed at month-end, tracks laundry, and shows household spending.

How much does it cost?

Grihaz is free right now. If paid features are added later, you will be told in advance and can choose whether to use them.

How do I sign in?

Enter your email address and Grihaz emails you a 6-digit code. There is no password. If the code doesn’t arrive within a minute, check your spam or promotions folder.

How do I install it on my phone?

Open app.grihazhome.com in your phone’s browser. On Android (Chrome), tap the ⋮ menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. On iPhone (Safari), tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. The same steps are in the app under Profile → Install app.

Staff and attendance

What do P, AP and A mean?

P is present. AP is absent but paid, for agreed leave. A is absent and unpaid, which is deducted from pay.

Do I have to mark attendance every day?

No. Everyone scheduled to work that day is marked present automatically at midnight. You only need to change it when someone was absent.

How is monthly pay worked out?

It depends on how you set up each person. For a fixed monthly salary, Grihaz works out a daily amount from the days they are scheduled that month and deducts unpaid absences. For a daily rate, it multiplies the rate by the days worked. For per-visit services, you log each visit with its amount. Extra work, advances and deductions you add are included in the total.

What happens when someone leaves?

Terminate their contract from the Staff tab. Their past records stay in your history and they still appear in settlements for the months they worked.

Laundry

How does laundry tracking work?

Set up a rate card with your laundry service’s prices. Each time you hand over clothes, log a drop-off with the items and service (wash, iron or dry clean). Mark items as returned when they come back. The month’s bill adds itself up in the Settle tab.

Sharing your home

Can my family use the same account?

Yes. In Profile → Manage home, tap Add member to copy an invite link and send it to them. Once they join, everyone sees the same records and anyone can mark attendance or log laundry.

Can my staff see their own attendance?

Not yet. Grihaz is used by the household only.

Expenses and Gmail

Do I have to connect Gmail?

No. Grihaz works fully without it. Connecting Gmail only adds online orders to your expense ledger automatically.

What does Grihaz read in my Gmail?

Only order confirmation emails from the shopping and delivery platforms you turn on, such as Amazon, Blinkit or Zomato. Access is read-only, so Grihaz can never send, change or delete your email. The email itself is not stored, only the order details. The privacy policy has the full details.

Why does Google say the app isn’t verified?

Google runs an extra security review for apps that read Gmail, and Grihaz hasn’t completed it yet. You can continue by tapping Advanced and then Go to Grihaz. If you’d rather wait, you can still add expenses by hand.

How do I disconnect Gmail?

Tap Disconnect next to your Gmail address in Profile. You can also remove Grihaz from your Google account’s permissions page. Expenses already added stay in your ledger.

Your data

Who can see my household’s data?

Only the members of your home. Grihaz does not sell your data or show you ads.

How do I delete my account?

Email [email protected] from the address you sign in with. Your account and household data are deleted within 30 days.
